Champions League

uefa_champions_league_logo_2The Champions League is a UEFA football cup competition for the best European clubs to compete in.  It is “the trophy” to get if you’re playing on a club.  It was established in 1955, but it’s current format has been going on since 1992.  In 1992 the cup was made more inclusive and began featuring a group stage before the knock out rounds.  There are currently 32 teams in the group stage, the winner and runner up of each group advances to the first knockout round, followed by the quarterfinals, then semi-finals, and finally the championship match.  The first knockout round, quarter, and semi-finals are played in a 2-legged format while the championship is decided by one game.  Games are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
